We love and respect our horses

Our horses are our partners, and our friends.  They prove over and over again that they are the best teachers — and why not?   No one knows more about being a horse than, well, a horse.   Each is like a jigsaw puzzle of physiological, mental and spiritual attributes, and our role is to figure out that jigsaw puzzle to optimize that horse’s performance and well-being.

Supreem Aviator (“Ace”)
• Age: 04/01/2000
 • Gender: Gelding
 • Color: Gray
 • Breed: National Show Horse (Arabian x American Saddlebred)
Ace is an earnest character.  We purchased him as a five year old despite the fact that he had a large open wound on his hindquarters;  he was sound, he was athletic, he seemed kind and anxious to please.   He has 1000 AERC miles, has completed two one-day 100 mile rides, several Grand or Reserve Champion awards at ECTRA CTR (competitive trail rides).

Second Wind Soldier (“Sarge”)
• Age: 16
 • Gender: Gelding
 • Color: Gray
 • Breed: Arabian x Morgan (Sire:  Bold Soldier)
Sarge is a rock star.   Just ask him.   Full of bravado and very competitive, Sarge and Richard have won several rides, top tenned most, and have several Best Condition awards under their belt.

Breezewood Nevarre (“Ned”)
• Age: 19 years
 • Gender: Gelding
 • Color: Gray
 • Breed: Arabian x Trakehner (Sire: Kedar)
Patti’s Decade Team horse, Ned, at 16+ big-bodied hands, is an unlikely 100 mile competitor, but don’t tell him that, since he’s completed six of seven 100 mile rides.   Ned also schools some pretty impressive dressage and is fond of un-requested airs above ground.   Now semi-retired after surgery to remove a massive melanoma, he still has more personality than a horse rightfully should have.

Shantih
• Age: 23 years
 • Gender: Gelding
 • Color: Gray
 • Breed: Arabian
Shantih was Richard’s first horse, purchased as an unstarted 3 year old stallion when Richard had never ridden a horse before.   While this is never what we would recommend, it worked out just fine.   Shantih has a delightful sense of humor, absolutely no panic button, and completed well over 1000 ECTRA miles including many AERC miles.
